[Champaign County ACLU Announcements]

Saturday, September 26, the local ACLU chapter will have a table at the Market on the Square from 8:00 a.m. to noon.   If you can help to staff the table for one or two hours, please let me know at estherpatt at hotmail.com.
 
Monday, November 2, from 6:30 - 8:30, the East Central Illinois Safe Schools Alliance will be holding a forum in the Theater at Parkland College to examine strategies to address and eliminate bullying based on sexual orientation in our public schools.  This is a problem that affects children of all ages from elementary, through middle school and up to high school.   Speakers on the panel will include the state superintendent of schools, students and local school officials.   Please hold the date.
 
Also, as previously announced, Colleen Connell, the Executive Director of ACLU of Illinois will be speaking at the YMCA's Friday Forum at noon on Friday, November 13.   You can meet and chat with Colleen at the ACLU chapter's fall gathering the evening of November 13 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the home of Marci Dodds and Cody Sokolski, 1005 W. University Avenue in Champaign.  Wine, non-alcoholic beverages, hors d'oeuvres and desserts will be served.  A donation of $20 is suggested.  This event is the chapter's only fundraiser for the year.
