*As a constituent of your district I am calling to ask you to support SB 9
-- the End of Life Options for Terminally Ill Patients Act. This bill will
allow a mentally capable, terminally ill adult with a prognosis of six
months or less the option to obtain a prescription medication they may
decide to take so they can die peacefully and end their suffering. Please
support this bill when it is voted on. Thank you.*

Last Friday, the Senate Executive Committee held a subject matter hearing on
 Senate Bill 9
<https://www.aclu-il.org/en/legislation/sb-9-end-life-options-terminally-ill-patients-act>,
the End of Life Options for Terminally Ill Patients Act. The measure would
add Illinois to the roster of states that permit a terminally ill, mentally
competent adult with a diagnosis of less than six months to receive a
prescription that allows them to end their suffering and die peacefully.
Khadine Bennett, Advocacy and Intergovernmental Affairs Director at the
ACLU of Illinois, testified during the hearing, alongside Deb Robertson, a
Lombard resident with a terminal diagnosis, Suzy Fleck, a mother whose son
accessed medical aid in dying in California, two medical doctors, and a
representative from our partners at Compassion & Choices.
