NEWS BULLETIN!         OCTOBER 10, 2025

THREE RULINGS ARE GOOD NEWS!

*1. A federal judge found ICE violated the consent decree (in the case ACLU
IL brought along with the National Immigrant Justice Center)** Castanon
Nava which creates a framework for combatting ICE’s abuses of warrantless
arrests without probable cause. **This victory will be an important tool
against    warrantless arrests.*

*2. A federal judge issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) in a case
ACLU IL filed this week that restricts federal force’s use of projectiles
and chemical agents on protestors and media at Broadview and the
Chicagoland area. The order also requires federal forces to identify their
agency on their uniform, even in riot gear. *

*3. Another federal judge blocked the Trump Administration from
federalizing and deploying the National Guard in Illinois in a challenge
brought by the State of Illinois. *

Join ACLU Champaign County on the Common Ground Porch at 11:45.
We have signs to share. Tell your friends and neighbors and bring them with
you!
*Encourage them to come out even if they have never protested before. *Numbers
matter. Everything is on the line. We must go out into the streets
peacefully and make our voices heard. We are co-sponsoring this protest
with Indivisible and other groups.
