[ACLU-CU ALERT] Possible Federal Immigration Activity in CU

Dear Friends in the Urbana-Champaign Community,



Like many of you, we have heard the widespread reports that our community
is expected to see a surge of as many as 100 federal agents in the coming
week. These reports include suggestions that these agents may or may not
work directly for ICE. Trump has used officers from a variety of agencies
to conduct federal immigration enforcement.



While we must caution that nothing has been confirmed, it is important to
be prepared.



The local rapid response hotline is 779-235-0262. And you can report
immigration activity to the Illinois Coalition of Immigrant and Refugee
Rights (ICIFRR) at 855-435-7693.

to interfere.

·       You can record any activity and share the recordings with others
online, including reporting it to ICIRR  – BUT AGAIN DO NOT INTERFERE.

If there is immigration activity that results in arrests without warrants,
those matters should be reported to ICIRR as part of the work that the ACLU
is doing to fight for the release of people arrested without warrants.
