*SB 3222: Protect Health Data Privacy Act
<https://www.aclu-il.org/legislation/hb-3494-protect-health-data-privacy-act/>*
aims to safeguard private health care information by assuring that
individuals have more control over their data before it is collected,
stored, shared or sold to others. The bill requires entities to be more
transparent with consumers about their data collection practices,
publishing a health data policy that discloses the specific health data
being collected and why it is collected.
*You can also call your State Senator at 1-872-312-9779 and ask them to
pass SB 3222!*
*The SECURE Act*
<https://www.aclu-il.org/legislation/hb4966-the-secure-act/>
The SECURE Act (HB 4966
<https://www.ilga.gov/Legislation/BillStatus?DocNum=4966&GAID=18&DocTypeID=HB&LegId=166330&SessionID=114>)
seeks to ensure that children and youth in DCFS care are able to receive
access to the healthcare they’re entitled to under Illinois law, even if
they’re out of state, as well to establish an accountability mechanism to
ensure that these youth are protected from discrimination. The bill has
already passed the Illinois House of Representatives and is now pending a
floor vote in the Illinois Senate. The legislature only has a few days to
pass bills ahead of the May 31 adjournment deadline, and it’s critical to
get this bill across the finish line so it can be sent and signed into law
by the Governor.
*Please call your State Senator at 1-866-895-8179 and ask them to pass
HB4966 and encourage leadership to call the bill on the floor. *You can
also reach out to your State Senator via email and learn more about the
SECURE Act here
