He is a professor at the University of Illinois Institute for Communications Research and has authored 12 award-winning books, including <EM><SPAN>Our Media, Not Theirs</SPAN></EM> and <EM><SPAN>Tragedy & Farce: How the American Media Sell Wars, Spin Elections and Destroy Democracy</SPAN></EM><EM><SPAN style="FONT-STYLE: normal"> (both with co-author</SPAN></EM> John Nichols).<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 8.5pt"><SPAN> McChesney</SPAN></SPAN><SPAN> hosts the popular weekly radio program Media Matters on public radio, and is the president and founder of Free Press, a preeminent non-partisan, grassroots organization working for media reform. </SPAN><SPAN>McChesney will also receive the local chapter's Victor Stone Award for lifetime achievement in supporting civil liberties.</SPAN></SPAN></DIV>
