[Champaign County ACLU Announcements]

1.  Please let us hear from you by next Monday (March 31) if you plan to attend the ACLU annual meeting.  It's an event you won't want to miss. 
Our keynote speaker, Robert McChesney is one of the leading voices in the movement for media reform, an effort which recognizes that fair and informative media are crucial to a free society.   He is a professor at the University of Illinois Institute for Communications Research and has authored 12 award-winning books, including Our Media, Not Theirs and Tragedy & Farce: How the American Media Sell Wars, Spin Elections and Destroy Democracy (both with co-author John Nichols).  McChesney hosts the popular weekly radio program Media Matters on public radio, and is the president and founder of Free Press, a preeminent non-partisan, grassroots organization working for media reform. McChesney will also receive the local chapter's Victor Stone Award for lifetime achievement in supporting civil liberties.
 
The meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. (registration starts at 11) on Sunday, April 6 at the Great Impasta in downtown Champaign.  Enjoy a great meal and an inspiring speaker.  $25 per person.

2.  The state-wide ACLU meeting is on Saturday, April 5 in Peoria from 8:30 - 2:30.   If you plan to attend and want to car pool, or if you have not yet registered and need the registration information again, please write to estherpatt at hotmail.com.
