[ACLU-CU ALERT] TUESDAY -- Mass Incarceration Animated

*JOIN US for this important event Tuesday! *Join the ACLU of Champaign
County for a screening of three animated shorts that tell the moving
real-life stories of people in our criminal justice system. These very
short films premiered at Sundance in 2018 and have been shown across the
country as part of the ACLU’s Smart Justice Campaign. We'll also be
screening "Reclaiming the Crown: the Footwork King's Battle with Money
Bail," a mini-documentary about pretrial incarceration produced by Chicago
Community Bond Fund.



An important conversation on the fight to #EndMoneyBail in Champaign and
Illinois will follow the film's screening. The conversation will feature
CCBF Advocate Lavette Mayes, whose story is told as part of the series,
Sharone Mitchell of the Illinois Justice Project, and will be moderated by
Ben Ruddell of the ACLU of IL. All of these speakers work with the
Coalition to End Money Bond. We'll also be joined by State Rep. Carol
Ammons, State Sen. Scott Bennett and local activists.
