*ACLU has been deeply concerned about how the conditions in detention
facilities amplify the spread of Covid-19, endangering both incarcerated
people AND the communities around detention facilities. *

*In our state, ACLU Illinois is suing or negotiating with three Illinois
counties for the release of vulnerable detainees held on civil immigration
charges.*

*Here in Champaign-Urbana, the local Bailout Coalition is holding a
socially distant **NOISE DEMONSTRATION on Friday May 1 at 6 pm *
*to push for release of people currently held in the Champaign County jail
and to avoid unnecessary detentions during the epidemic. *

*Although this is not an ACLU event, we are sharing this announcement with
our members who might wish to participate. *
*Please demonstrate safely! Wear masks and maintain safe social distance.*
