Thu Aug 27 15:15:21 EDT 2020

The ACLU has devised a virtual *Vote Like Your Rights Depend On It: 2020
Election Series
<https://www.aclu-il.org/en/events/vote-your-rights-depend-it-2020-election-series>*
in partnership with the *Weinberg/Newton Gallery*
<http://www.weinbergnewtongallery.com/>. The Gallery’s exhibition *Anthem*,
presented online and in partnership with the ACLU from September 11 –
December 19, will examine voting rights in the United States through works
of contemporary artists such as Bethany Collins, Eve L. Ewing, and Naima
Green, among others.

The three-part voting rights event series will explore topics such as
voting during the COVID-19 pandemic, fighting voter suppression and
expanding access to the ballot, the intersection of art and social
activism, and the continued fight for civil rights and liberties
nationwide.

With less than 70 days until the election, a number of states have yet to
guarantee no-excuse mail-in voting to all eligible voters, concerns remain
about the USPS, and regressive tactics such as poll taxes, voter ID
requirements, and witness signatures on ballots are being employed to
continue disenfranchising hundreds of thousands of voters. The COVID-19
pandemic has become yet another tool to suppress the votes of poor people,
people of color, people with disabilities, young adults, and the
elderly. Across
the country, the ACLU is leading the fight to ensure that no American is
forced to choose between their health and exercising their right to vote
