The Illinois General Assembly is meeting this week and we have a request
for witness slips.  *Please remember to file as SELF, not as the ACLU.  *



This week two bills will be heard in committees to affirm and recognize
youth in DCFS care. These bills amend various child welfare and juvenile
court statutes to reflect more inclusive language in laws relating to
children and families. This legislation is a first step in responding to a
2021 Illinois Auditor General report urging DCFS to affirm and recognize
hundreds of young people in their care.
